reseller, reseller administrative or user), requires one license. Once
an account is deleted, the license gets released and can be taken by new
accounts.
- Account Suspension
- The act of closing user access to their control panel, but preserving its content and configuration.
- Affiliate Program
- (also referred to as Referral Program) Affiliate Program
allows making money by referring customers to a partner website. You
place a referral link (text or banner) on your Affiliate Site. Every
time a customer signs up through referral link on your site, you earn a

signups. Affiliate support is available only for credit card accounts as
they are not subject to moderation.
- Agent Log
- A log file that stores data about agents used to enter the site -- such as browsers or any other Internet-based software -- and all related data.
- Anonymous FTP

- This feature allows to give public FTP access to a dedicated
directory in your account. This allows users without accounts to access
files by entering the username anonymous, along with their email address
as a password. Because anyone can access files that have been set up for
anonymous FTP, it is necessary to be careful to use it only for files
meant for public consumption. See also
FTP Subaccount
and Virtual
FTP.
- Antispam

- (also referred to as SpamAssassin)The system that allows to
trace, filter out and delete spam messages coming to your mailbox. It
doesn't delete messages recognized as spam but only marks them as spam
and delivers them in a regular way, which is why these messages also
count against your summary traffic.
- Antivirus

- (also referred to as ClamAV)A resource that checks incoming mail for viruses and if detects any, sends e-mail notification about it and deletes the virus mail. Antivirus resource can be enabled for all mail domains in your account, for specific maildoman and for mail resources of specific maildomain.

in the data, the authoritative server is updated. See also
Primary
Server and
Secondary Server.
- Autoresponder

per month, the bandwidth limit will have been exceeded.
- Billing Email

billing statements, account notifications etc.
- Billing Info
- Contact information used for billing. It is entered at signup and
later can be edited in user CP in Billing -> Billing profile.
See below Billing Profile.
- Billing Period
- Billing period determines how far in advance recurrent fees for
billing period resources are prepaid. One-month billing period comes
with every new plan by default. You can create multiple billing periods
of different length for your customers which allows more flexibility in
pricing.
- Billing Profile

- A billing profile is a set of billing details such as credit card
information and billing info. It is required to collect payments and to
contact you on financial or related matters. You can have several
billing profiles and use them in turn, activating the one you would like
to be charged. You can share one billing profile between your accounts,
if you have more than one.
- Billing Statement
- A billing statement is a detail comulative record of paid activity
reflecting all charges and credits incurred during a billing period.
This means each billing statement represents user's paid activity during
the billing period.
- Billing Type
- Billing types indicate whether and how users pay for hosting
services (Credit Cards, Online Payment Systems, Checks, Trial, No
Billing). Plans in H-Sphere can be commercial and free. Free plans are
typically used to host your corporate site, use an external billing

maintain and monitor the hosted website. It allows providing a
heterogeneous operating system environment to your customers across
multiple servers located in various data centers. The CP consists of
many subsystems: DNS/Server Management, User Signup, Billing, Merchant

Problem reports will include basic information about CP version, kernel,
system Java and database, and major packages installed on the affected
boxes to make fixing the problem easier.

physical center from where networks are managed. Typically, a datacenter
has hundreds or even thousands of Web servers with multiple connections
to the backbone, and power backup systems.
- Dead License
- The Miva licenses already used up. Such licenses can't be re-used.
- Debit an Account
- When you debit a check payment user, the amount is subtracted from
the account balance. When you debit a credit card payment user, the
amount is first subtracted from the account balance, and when the credit
limit is reached, all the negative balance is charged to the credit
card.
- Dedicated IP
- An IP address that is set aside specifically for one domain. This
means that if someone types in the numeric form of the IP address the
same domain will always appear in the browser. See also
Shared IP.
- DS (Dedicated Server) Hosting
- Unlike in shared
hosting where many client sites are located on the same server and share
network bandwidth, here users have their own server and fixed amount of
bandwidth limited only by their agreement with the provider. This allows
them to choose server software according to their own preferences.
Dedicated server is a good solution for those site owners whose profit
depends on high load perfomance of their sites e.g. online store runners
etc.
- DS Bandwidth Billing
- There are two approaches to bandwidth calculation: average and 95th
percentile. It can also be measured either in megabits per second or in
gigabytes. Bandwidth billing type is chosen for a dedicated server plan
i.e. all users signed to a particular plan will be billed according to
this type determined by the provider.
- DS Maintenance
- Involves backup manager that receives client backup requests and
trouble ticket system through which requests for server upgrade,
cancellation, reboot and adding extra IPs are sent. Such requests should
be processed manually.
- DS Plan
- A kind of plans in H-Sphere 2.5+ designed for selling dedicated
servers and related resources.
- DS Status
- Indicators successively assigned to each dedicated server in the
system, whether manually or automatically: Disabled -> Available -> In
use -> On hold -> Clean up. They help administrators manage and motinor
their servers.
- DS Template
- To simplify billing and managing of dedicated servers with the same
parameters, they are added to the system from templates where server's
operating system, RAM and disk space are specified. When setting a
dedicated server plan, provider chooses templates to be available in it.
As some clients may have special needs, there is also a possibility to
add custom-built dedicated servers assiged directly to such clients but
not sold via plans.
- Delegated Shared SSL
- An SSL certificate type that allows your resellers to offer their
customers your service domain for third level hosting and wildcard
certificate installed on it.
- Directory Indexes

- A tool that allows to set your own index pages instead of those
specified in the default settings. In other words, you can tell your
visitors' browsers which page to load as they hit your domain. Usually,
it's /index.html by default, but you can set any other custom
welcome page.
- Disk Quota
- Disk space in H-Sphere is allocated to customers through quotas,
which are set separately for user's home directory on the web server
and each user mailbox and database. Quotas are obligatory plan
resources and can't be disabled. Customers can't upload and store more
MB than the resource quota allows (except for My/Pg SQL DBs) and will
get an error message if they try to do so.
- Disk Usage
- Every 24 hours a cron script scans end user's FTP home directory,
all mailboxes, and DBs to summarize the disk space and make up summary
disk usage for the last day. Summary readings of each daily scan are
added up and divided by days elapsed from the beginning of the billing
month. The resulting amount makes up user's average summary disk usage.
- Disk Usage Limit
- User's initial summary disk usage limit is made up by summary disk
usage free units. If by the end of billing month user's average summary
disk usage exceeds it, they will be charged usage (overlimit) fees. To
prevent it, users can increase their summary disk usage limit and be
charged recurrent fee for monthly resources which is usually less than
usage (overlimit) fees.

The Domain resource is responsible for DNS hosting and is required by all specific domain types, such as Domain Registration, Domain Transfer, Third Level Domain, etc. See also Subdomain.
- Domain Alias
- (also referred to as stack domain) An extra domain name that
points to a 'primary' domain. Domain alias can have its own DNS zone,

domain name example.com registers domain alias example.net
which points to example.com. Every Internet user who goes to
example.net will land in example.com.
